Notice: Westmoreland Cleanways staff does not and cannot accept Household Hazardous Waste (HHW). It is only accepted on specific collection days, when our partner, Noble Environmental is on site.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Schedule
- When: Recurring on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month
- Time: 8am-1pm, during regular operating hours
- Where: 355 Pleasant Unity Mutual Road, Greensburg, PA 15601
- Cost: $0.80/lb. weighed on site, CARDS ONLY, no cash!
HHW will only be accepted when Noble Environmental Staff is on site; Recycling Center employees are not legally permitted to handle HHW at any time.
Acceptable Household Hazardous Waste
Can only accept containers that are 5 gallons or smaller
- Oil Based/Latex Paint/Stains/Varnish
- Putties, Adhesives, Glues
- Wood/Metal Finishing Products
- Water Sealers
- Flammable Liquids
- Batteries
- Antifreeze/Automotive Fluids
- Household Cleaning Agents
- Drain Cleaners
- Lawn & Garden products/Fertilizers/Herbicides/Pesticides
Prohibited Items

- explosives
- ammunition
- radioactive materials
- pharmaceuticals
- syringes
- medical waste
- smoke detectors
- mercury containing devices, and elemental mercury

What to Expect When You Arrive
- Safety Tips for transporting the material to the event:
- Pack HHW in sturdy cardboard boxes to avoid spillage.
- Secure lids and make sure containers are not leaking. (Note: Noble Environmental keeps all HHW containing containers)
- Place box(es) of household hazardous waste as far away from the driver as possible, in the trunk or the rear of the vehicle.
- When arriving on site, follow the recycling entrance sign to the back of the property, and look for the HHW drop off area.
- To ensure everyone’s safety around hazardous chemicals and equipment, stay in your vehicle at all times. Noble Environmental staff will unload your vehicle and collect payment. Note: Noble Environmental keeps all containers.
- Payment accepted: Cards ONLY.
- Drive away knowing you’ve properly rid your home and environment of toxic and dangerous chemicals.
